Los Angeles has lately been a rich stew of of sun, surf and glamor, which has continued to nourish a vibrant musical community. With all eyes on Los Angeles, the recently formed Proximal Records is seeking to capture this arousing moment in the city’s illustrious lifespan. Proximity One: Narrative of a City, the label’s first release is an amalgamation of what makes the city’s electronic music scene tick, including tracks from Daedelus, TOKimonsta, Teebs, and a raft of Proximal artists including Sahy Uhns, Benedeck, and Lawrence Grey. Joining the snapshot, keyboard wizard Dâm-Funk contributes “A Day At the Carnival.” Even in this brief moment his command of hand claps, gleaming synth lines and sweltering bass is clear when he’s conjuring sweaty, sexy times on the boardwalk. Skirting just shy of the cheese factor that plagues so much synth funk, Dâm-Funk’s stunning production draws you in to the Tunnel of Love for a private boogie session. Special thanks to Dâm-Funk and Proximal Records for sharing this feel good track.
