In our interview with Uwe Schmidt, the venerable producer noted that Tobias Freund was one of the few producers with whom he’d shared a stage. “It’s perfect musical communication on stage, which most importantly is great fun with him,” he asserted. Together the pair have made several records, all without ever entering a studio. Their latest was likewise recorded live, this time at Berlin’s techno palace, Berghain, and released on Pomelo. This week’s download is an excerpt from that record, nearly 13 minutes of grimy, improvised techno that begins to burn with acidic arpeggios and hi-hat flurries as it progresses. Our thanks to Pomelo, Schmidt and Freund for offering up this inimitable piece.

Sounds fantastic on my laptop speakers, looking forward to giving it a proper listen. Saw Atom TM live for the first time recently having not heard any of his recorded output, and thought he was excellent, so looking forward to checking this release out.
