DOTW: Octave One, The Greater Good

Octave One have produced their Detroit-centric brand of techno for 21 years now, longer than some of LWE’s staff have been alive. And while there have been several multi-year gaps in their discography, the Burden Brothers have never stopped pushing themselves to create something new and interact with their fans in new ways. The last decade has seen Octave One leap into the live arena, lugging their analog gear around the world to bring their vast oeuvre to life in front of audience’s eyes and ears. This year the duo will release their third full-length album, Here, There and Beyond, for their own 430 West Records. In anticipation of their appearance at The Bunker Unsound Edition in Brooklyn on April 9th, this week’s download offers a glimpse at their newest sounds. “The Greater Good” is rooted in the classic Octave One sound, its layered arpeggios leaping over rolling hand drums as they grow sharper and more intense. Our thanks to the Burden Brothers and Unsound for making the track available.
